Continuing Ed. - Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting
|
REGULATORY UPDATE
New Hampshire dentists and dental assistants need to be aware of the new rules enacted by the Board of Dental Examiners in regard to expanded duties for dental assistants. Current law requires dental assistants (who are not graduates of an American Dental Association accredited school) to have worked in a dental office for 400 hours and have completed a board approved course in the Preliminary Inspection of the Oral Cavity before they are eligible to enroll in an expanded duty course. This pertains to all of the expanded duty courses, including dental x-rays, coronal polishing, sealants, temporary crown and bridge, whitening, and expanded orthodontic duties, and monitoring nitrous oxide. To meet this need we are offering the Oral Inspection course at the start of the semester.
