2005 USCAA National Champions!
NH coaching legend and current head coach Paul Hogan's NHTI Capitals became the first basketball team from the State of New Hampshire to ever win a national championship when they defeated Golden State Baptist College in the USCAA Championship Game on March 5, 2005 at the Goldie Crocker Wellness Center on the NHTI campus. The Capitals up tempo style frequently results in high-scoring, crowd-pleasing games.
The Capitals are looking forward to another fantastic season in 2007-8 with a solid nucleus of veteran players returning. NHTI plays a competitive schedule frequently playing as many as 30 plus games per season. Many former Capitals have received national and regional recognition for their outstanding individual play including James Thorpe of Concord, Matt Spanos of Newport, Nate Truncellito of Manchester and most recently Chris "Speedy" Lawes of Peterborough.
Over 30 players have left the powerhouse NHTI program to continue their collegiate basketball careers at four-year institutions. The list continues to grow and change as Kevin Harrington of Ossipee will be playing at Rivier College and Patrick Lacasse of Rochester will be at Wentworth Institute in 2007-8.
